In this dish, chunks of chicken are deep-fried and coated with egg and cornstarch before being tossed with a sticky, sweet sesame sauce. This version is a bit healthier without sacrificing any of the flavors. The chicken will be shallow fried instead of deep fried. In fact, you can even sauté instead of shallow frying.

Chicken Leg Boneless

Our pre-cuts, marinades, and ready-to-cook options are all farm-fresh! Located in Maharashtra, this state-of-the-art poultry farm covers 150 acres. Feed that is antibiotic-free. Range of pre-cut products. Free of preservatives.

Because we raise chickens, we know what they’re like. When we state we don’t use antibiotics, we genuinely mean it. To us, providing fresh antibiotic-free chicken to our consumers is not just a standard operating procedure, but a fundamental responsibility.

In general, boneless meat from the leg portion of the chicken is pinker than breast boneless meat, and it is more flavorful when grilled or prepared in gravy. If you prefer tender meat then the meat from this part of the chicken is much more soft and juicy than meat from other parts.

Serves: 4

Cuisine: Asian/ Chinese

Prep Time: 15 mins + marinating

Cooking Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 500 gms Zorabian Boneless Chicken Leg, cut into chunks
  • A total of 5 tablespoons of soy sauce plus extra for seasoning
  • Cornflour, 1/2 cup
  • Jasmine Rice, 2 cups
  • ¼ cup of honey
  • A tablespoon of brown vinegar
  • Sesame seeds, 3 Tbsp
  • Cut 2 bok choys in half

The Sauce

  • When it comes to stir fry, the sauce is crucial (if you care about flavour). The honey sesame sauce takes just five minutes to make and requires only a few pantry staples:
  • Honey- well, that’s obvious! However, you can substitute maple syrup if you are in a pinch.
  • It is recommended that you seek out soy sauce that has a low sodium content. This recipe may turn out too salty if you use regular salt!
  • If you want a bigger nutrient boost, make your own homemade bone broth
  • It doesn’t matter if it’s toasted or regular sesame oil
  • Use red pepper flakes for a little kick; omit if serving to children
  • Alternatively, use arrowroot powder instead of cornstarch

In a skillet mix all the ingredients together and set aside and toss up once the chicken is ready.

Method

  1. Mix the chicken, 3 Tbsp soy sauce, oil, and freshly cracked pepper in a large bowl. Cover with a lid and marinate it for 20 minutes in the fridge preferably.
  2. After marinating, drain any remaining marinade from the chicken, then toss it in cornflour. Cook the chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through by shallow frying it in oil for around 5 minutes. Alternatively, don’t shallow fry but sauté in very little oil. Using a paper towel, drain the chicken once it has been cooked.
  3. Rice should be cooked according to the instructions on the package. Bring the honey, rice wine vinegar, remaining soy sauce, and a drizzle of oil to a boil, stirring occasionally. The sesame seeds should be stirred in after the sauce has thickened.
  4. Soy sauce can be added to the stir-fry or steamed bok choy before cooking. Add the honey sesame sauce to the crispy chicken and toss to coat. Rice should be divided between bowls, then bok choy should be served on top.

Once it is done, toss the chicken in the prepared honey sauce glaze and coat all the chicken pieces in the sauce for that awesome flavour.

Top Tips:

  • To make this sweet and sticky chicken even more delicious, serve it with thinly sliced cucumber, radish, or carrot pickled in vinegar, sugar, and salt
